A former metropolis, Belgium is the country with one of the largest communities of Congolese living abroad. They are well integrated into society and can be found in several spheres of professional life. On the intellectual level, many of them have studied to become doctors, engineers, computer scientists, university professors, civil servants in public administration and politicians.
Many of the political struggle movements for the advent of democracy have moved from this country to other diaspora groups in European and American countries. It is also the place of launch of the strange Congolese culture through music, gastronomy and clothing.
Economically, the Congolese diaspora in Belgium is very active in trade between Belgium and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This trade, ranging from small businesses to modern management companies, contributes to job creation and the fight against poverty in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Within the FICE, Belgium occupies the 3rd place in terms of the number of adherent members who actively participate in the activities of the association. This is how a national office saw the birth of a very dynamic committee.
